Any potential self-funded PhD students who are interested in joining the Manchester NanoSIMS Group should contact Dr Katie Moore ([email protected]) to discuss potential projects. Projects using NanoSIMS in the following areas are of particular interest:

  • Hydrogen and deuterium localisation in metals
  • Trace element localisation in plants or bacteria
  • Drug localisation
  • Isotopic labelling of biological materials to follow elemental uptake pathways
  • Understanding the oxidation mechanisms of metals using isotopic labels
